Staunton
Just as some of our most vulnerable and marginalised communities are ablaze the High Pay Commission has revealed that directors of the FT100 companies are forecast to retire on an average of £175,000 pa, whilst their employees can look forward to an average pension of just £6000 per year. And because the directors' pension funds are now so well financed, their members are enjoying 'contributions holidays' of around £150,000 each this year. It is worth remembering that these FT100 companies are precisely those organisations that are taking advantage of the offshore economy - using the financial management techniques that allow multinationals and the corporate sector to avoid paying tax - and therefore evading their responsibilities to the very society which provides the profit and the lucrative salary and pension packages that their executives enjoy.
