Electerrific
The current riots are spreading across London and the Met Police (and economy) are already stretched to breaking point. Will we hand over the Olympic mantle? London will be trashed at this rate? What will this cost and can we afford it? Not to mention funding our fighting forces in Afghanistan and in Libya, too? Its all training for the new sports of throwing the tele, supermarket sweep, and how fast can you outrun a copper.
Karis
I can't imagine anything but a major disaster would stop the 2012 Olympics from going ahead. In fact, I can't think what would bring proceedings to a halt.

strikerPaul
The government will just cancel all leave for every cop in the UK to police the Olympics. This government, is they think it will make them money would do anything regardless of who the upset on route.

The olympics are less than a year away, most of the money has been spent. It will go ahead and bring some money back with tourists and jobs at the Olympic village (not to mention the ticket sales). It would be far worse not to host it now it's all built.
HeadingNorth
I can't imagine anything but a major disaster would stop the 2012 Olympics from going ahead. Massive rioting could reach that scale, but it would need to be several orders of magnitude worse than we're seeing right now.
