Where will the evicted people go??

Recommended Posts

That's wrong, easily the worst bit of sentencing I've seen and perversely more likely to cause unrest than any of the others. On remand till crown court a minimum, because as you say it's completely unequal, and obviously, based on the info you've given, premeditated.

Dreadful.

Dreadful.

Indeed, looking at the sentencing, most of it appears to make little sense.. obviously we don't know the full ins and outs of each case, but when someone is getting sentenced to 9 months for "Theft by finding" and another is getting sentenced to 2.5 months for carry a knife and/or assaulting a police officer.. then something somewhere is very wrong!

Interesting spreadsheet of some of the court cases so far..

It doesn't strike me as being consistent justice.

Why do you think they did it?

They didn't burn down the Police Stations and Town Halls did they?

They politically liberated trainers, clothing, jewellery, phones, plasma tvs and computers, they politically mugged the injured.

They LITERALLY mugged the injured. Haven't you seen the footage of that poor Malaysian boy!!!???

For Christ Sake! Open more prisons, therefore generating more jobs (i'd work in one!), therefore getting more scum like these off the streets!

Day 1 of the rioting filled every cell in London - granted they were police stations but the courts opened their doors over night and judges worked through the night - but were stumped by the fact that the prisons were almost full

BUILD MORE PRISONS!!!!

I can work that out and i'm just a mum in Sheffield! So much work could be generated: buliders, sparky's, plasterers, bricky's - and that's just building the damn thing, just think of the other jobs generated from other areas when the thing is up and running!

Scum off the streets, more jobs generated - everyone's a winner!

It's a no-brainer!

Did I miss something? sent to prison for wearing shorts

Handling stolen goods; and as of right now, any crime of any description that is related to those riots is going to see the courts drop the hammer on you.

I'm all in favour of rioters and looters being treated harshly, but I do think this goes too far.

I know the general answer will be 'Don't give a ****', but all these people who's been rioting up and down the country have been (rightly) threatened with eviction from their council houses.

But where will they go? Can they throw the Human Rights card in?

Thousands of cardboard boxes are thrown away every week. They can sleep in them for all I care.

I personally don't have much sympathy for the bankers, but these things are slightly different, for starters most bankers didn't do anything wrong. Politicians on the other hand dip their hand in the till... But neither went out and maliciously destroyed and looted...

Casino bankers were led entirely by their own greed with no thought to the consequences to others that their actions may have had. Sound familiar? If people who nicked a pair of shoes from Foot Locker during the rioting get evicted, shouldn't we be able to burn a banker and his/her family out of their luxury home? They have destroyed peoples' livelihoods too.

Oh you mean like this millionaire's daughter was allowed to do..

It's not just swift, but unequal justice.. basically if you're not rich, you're denied bail and given insane sentences..

....and guess what, her parents won't lose their home either.

The government's reaction to this stinks. Victimising the poor as ever.

Absolutely. It's more likely to feed in to future riots than prevent them.
