What would you do if you accidentally hit a small animal whilst driving?

Recommended Posts

I slammed the brakes on and pulled over

Which you should not have done as it could be classed as dangerous.

and all the other cars drove round me giving me dirty looks

I think I'd have done the same, after all, you was causing an obstruction.

I just couldn't believe nobody stopped

Maybe they were aware of the other road users and deemed it unsafe to "slam on the brakes and pull over"?

looking at me like I was stupid

Slamming on the brakes is a pretty stupid thing to do for a (pre)squashed animal though, so not really a surprise, is it?

well you can't just leave it can you.

Yes.

I thought it would go without saying that I did the mirror signal manouver thing.. not that it mattered as I was doing 20mph and the next car was quite far behind me. Hardly dangerous! Also, I stopped at the side of the road, out of the way so it was hardly an obstruction ;)

Anyway - whats my "bad" driving got to do with the thread?
