Thirsty Ear
THIRSTY EAR - COLD HEAT EDITION Vinyl treats of Funk, Soul, 50s & 60s Real Rockin' R&B, Rockabilly...Dynamite on the Dance Floor! With Special Guest: KEB DARGE [Lost & Found / Legendary Deep Funk / Kay-Dee Records / BBE Music] http://www.madamejojos.com/club_nights/lost_and_found/about/ http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=14455622298 http://kaydeerecords.com/ http://www.bbemusic.com/data.pl?artist=Keb+Darge Wow, this will be pretty special! Keb started DJing Northern Soul in the 1970s, and by the 1980s he was bringing the Wigan scene down to London. The 1990s saw him start up London's first funk-only night, 'Deep Funk' which then moved to Madame Jo-Jo's strip club, becomming 'Legendary Deep Funk'. He was soon regarded as the leading authority on deep funk & soul music of the 60s & 70s, achieving practically legendary status among his peers. He began releasing countless albums for the BBE music label, compiling funk, soul, jazz, real R&B and rockabilly alongside the likes of DJ Shadow, Kenny Dope (MAW), Pete Rock, The RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5), Paul Weller, and his wife Little Edith. 2002 saw him set up the Kay-Dee record label alongside Kenny Dope, reissuing obscure 45s with that 70s funk and soul flavour. Recent years has seen him move away from those funky sounds and towards the older, rawer, rockier sound of 50s and 60s rhythm'n'blues and rockabilly. This is showcased at London's weekly 'Lost & Found' event run by Keb, Little Edith and Andy Smith. Here they "play raw vinyl treasures... from the rarest 45s on the planet or a Little Richard classic - it's dynamite on the dance floor!"
