Dizzee2011
Hello there. I'm doing my family tree and on my great grandmother's birth certificate, she was born in 1855, it states that she was born at Horner House, Bradfield. Was it an actual house or place? I'd love to know please. My great great grandfather was called William MILLINGTON and his occupation on the certificate was in the woollen industry. Thanks very much. hillsbro
Hi Dizzee2011 - there are two photos of a Horner House on the www.picturesheffield.co.uk site. The reference numbers are s17076 and s17078. The location is Stocksbridge, which was in the civil parish of Bradfield.
speeder
We can find many references to Horner House, Bradfield, and looking at the various websites I reckon it must have been an area of what is now Stocksbridge, but this would have been in the parish of Bradfield, it is a section of land surrounding what is now Pearson St, Stocksbridge. Hope this helps.
