Can't Britain just close and say we are full up?

Recommended Posts

So you believe that population predictions are pointless in a thread about population numbers. It's not the strongest argument is it?

It wasn't the strongest prediction...and if it was right it still doesn't mean we could cope with that number...?

Nothing really to do with immigration

How did you come across the idea there are less buses on the road nowadays?

What does it matter? Busses have nothing to do with immigration. It was a silly point made earlier and has nothing to do with what people are talking about. You've even said so yourself.

 A prediction from 1960 has no value. What context is there?

Today we in this nation have 1 million British youth unemployed. Could we have a more clear indication that this nation is full? 1 million illegal immigrants. and at least 5 million other immigrants:rant: We are full.

Non-sequitur, again. You like these, don't you? 1 million unemployed means we need 1 million job opportunities for young people, not that we are full.

It was only a silly point because you think it is. However, I see the effects of immigration every single day on buses, which have, in a surprisingly short space of time, become filled with people of every nation.

But, by all means, keep sticking your head in the sand.

The problem we have here is that we're arguing the wrong thing. For the country to "be full" there needs to be a finite amount of something. A hotel with 100 rooms and 100 guests is full. A bus with 100 seats and 100 passengers is full.

To fill a country we have to work out what the finite thing is that we no longer have. Land? Plenty of that left. Work, Houses? They can be created. Health and infrastructure can all be expanded. If you want do discuss the negatives of immigration, and they do exist, then do so, but to say "we are full" is stupid.

It depends what you class as full there is still 'space left' but if there are no jobs available, the NHS is already pushed to its limit along with the police and many other public servant sectors.

So allowing more and more people into the country with out solving the problem that we already have things are just going to get worse and worse

You could quite easily say "At the moment we are full"..doesn't mean we can't take more in the future...but at present we seem to be near capacity...
