I remember Mace's being in a gloomy, smelly basement at the upper end of the old rag and tag market - it might have been under the old Norfolk Market Hall or somewhere nearby. I think this would have been c. 1957-58. There was also a much larger pet shop at the Commercial Street end of the rag and tag, which I imagine was Ogley's. A 1950s Kellys Directory might confirm this. Mace's later moved to their Exchange Street shop, which was on two floors - animals and birds upstairs, and pet food and supplies at street level.
