Optical illusions: have a look at these

Thre was a ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach that was based on an optical illusion. You sat on a long bench & the room started spinning around, unfortunately I didn't strap my self in & although I didn't throw myself out of the seat & it just fely like being in the middle of a giant tumble drier - either that or the worst hangover ever!

Is that the same as/similar to Alton Towers' Hex? I always wish they could find a way to make it more extreme as it's a good concept, just not scary enough.

I remember going on this. You sat opposite each other and the bench rattled a bit as you got on it to add to the illusion.

Regarding the OP, I love these kind of things. Does anyone remember the magic eye pictures they used to sell in the hole in the road? My mates could never figure em out but I could see every one. Strange!

nothing moved for me............

Don't stare too hard at them; try not to unfocus your eyes. Try looking at them out of the corner of your eye.

And try moving your eyes over the images a little.

I do remember those: drifting your eyes out of focus until the image - eventually - popped out of page. The technique used to see those is the very opposite of what's required here; allow your gaze to shift beyond the plane of these motion illusions and the effect ceases.

There's a little on the 'corner of the eye' perceptual drift illusions here. The link to the pdf on that page is dead, but for those interested, it can be found here.
