Grandad.Malky
No, it is a sentence; not the type being a collection of words. It is, however, a Euphemism for Coolie Labour. Sorry it sounded like community service to me ……….. there could be a few up for that with the number that have been locked up recently.
Treatment
Sorry it sounded like community service to me ……….. there could be a few up for that with the number that have been locked up recently. No problem, that is what it is; groups of lads, say 8 or 9, get sent to do gardening/decorating work for people/organisations that apply for help; e.g. Sports Clubs or individuals. They meet at a pre-determined time, say 9 am, jump in a Transit Type vehicle, under a Supervisor, and then 'do up' the area/garden etc. concerned. I think that ''unpaid work'' is just the latest word to sanitise it; just as people who have nowhere to sleep, and end up under the arches, are called '' rough sleepers'', as if it was a holiday choice like '' caravanners''. shims
I can't see the council paying their staff a £10 per hour either. Someone performing gardening duties for the council doesn't have to pay one-thirty-odd per litre of petrol or cover the cost of equipment.

Tiredthings
Id say its a fair price, we had a chap earlier this year that cut the hedge and grass, did general tidying up, he used his own tools and took all the garden rubbish with him, he was there three hours and charged £33.00 which we were more than happy to pay.
