Advice on Chinese stones please.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of anywhere in Sheffield/Rotherham that specialize in precious stones; preferably Chinese stones used for carvings?

What it is, I have what I now know to be a 'Chinese chop'. Basically, it's an ink stamp that (according to what I've read while doing a little online research) were once used as business stamps in China.

It's around three inches high by one inch square, ornately carved on all sides, inscribed on both ends with what would have been the original owners personalized design(his/her signature so to speak)

As I said, I've been doing a little online research to find out what it actually is and what stone it's carved from also, and having compared it with pictures of various stones, It appears to look very similar to a stone called 'Tianhuang'.

If I knew how I'd add a picture but I don't know how to unfortunately.
