A third of youth lags are foreign

Recommended Posts

A third of criminals entering Britains top youth jail last year were foreign, it was revealed yesterday.

More than 2000 crooks aged between 10 and 18 passed through Feltham Youth Offenders Institute in West London.

A total of 632 were not born in the UK. Somalia was the birthplace of one in ten of the foreigners - the highest of any nationality.

It was followed by Romania, Jamaica, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Algeria, Lithuania, Congo, Ireland and Portugal.

Think - tank, Migration-watch last a night said the figures, from January 2010 to April 2011 were 'shocking'. Its chairman Sir Andrew Green said 'clearly the efforts made to integrate these people from immigrant communities have failed'

The Sun obtained the figures through a Freedom of Information request.

They appear to confirm studies over the last ten years showing a steady rise in crimes committed by young Somali men.

But charity Somali action group said the figures were 'biased'.

Its director Mustafa Ibrahim said 'Government forms don't distinguish between Somalis and people from other parts of Africa, so Somalis get blamed for crimes by other people'.

But a prison service spokesman insisted other African prisoners are not classed as Somalis. He said 'Prisoners are asked to state their nationality and place of birth'.

2/3 of young criminals are white British.

Best to send them all back to where ever they came from. Perhaps France, Denmark or Shiregreen.

how do you know 2/3 they are white/british ?? read it again carefully especially the bit where it says 'Prisoners are asked to state their nationality and place of birth' i bet three quarters of the other two thirds are of foreign decent - you're funny :hihi:

For all the anti racists leaping into action like coiled springs these are prison stats and there is clearly a problem. In my humble opinion any immigrant should be on probation for ten years anyway and instant deportation for crime. Of course watching discussions on this on current affairs programmes shows the dominant thinking is that once an immigrant has done his time he should be allowed to continue living in the UK as he's served his sentence and is now no different. This is simply wrong and nobody should have the right to turn up and commit crime.

The title of your own thread says that a third of them are foreign.

So the other two thirds must not be.

In the space of two posts, you having gone from quoting some figures published elsewhere to "betting that.." Hardly a convincing position from which to argue your point.

What is your point anyway? That being foreign makes a person more likely to be arrested? That being foreign makes a person more likely to be a criminal?

Or do you simply not like coloured people?

True, if 'only' a third of them are foreign, then 2/3 must be British.

But do you (deliberately?) miss the point that the third comes from a small fraction of the population? There may be twice as many white British offenders, but they come from a group that is 30 times larger, so - very roughly - the immigrants have a 15 times higher propensity for crime than white British people.

I think you're missing the point deliberately. It doesn't say anywhere that the other 2/3 are white British. It just says they're British. 1/3 are individuals who were born abroad. The other 2/3 were born in the UK. It doesn't state what race they are. People who are not white are born in the UK to therefore the other 2/3 will include people of various races.

no being foreign doesn't make them more likely to be arrested, being foreign means that percentage wise as the stats show they are more likely to commit crime - end of, ps i thought that Romanian and Irish skin was of the slightly lighter variety, well maybe not Romanian but certainly Irish wouldn't you agree ? or are you so one sided colour blind :)

Fine, ignore the 'white' bit (after all, just because 90-odd percent of the population is white and most immigrants are not is irrelevant, yes?), but it still shows immigrants to have a 15 times higher propensity for crime than British people.
