cardoor
Is a car which failed miserably on emissions worth fixing, i don't understand the readings which are: COcor: 3.93 Lambda 1.390 CO2%Vol 9.0 CO% 2.24 HC 341 o2 % 6.99 Plus it states there was excessive dense blue smoke during acceleration
stupid head
Was it left stood for any amount of time before the mot. I had a diesel that failed the emissions test, the tester told me to give it a good thrashing which i did, it then passed.
sccsux
excessive dense blue smoke during acceleration Burning oil, generally not a good sign:(. Emissions could simply mean a new (partial) exhaust is required.
Obelix
It wont be diesel if they are measuring all that lot. What's teh car, age, service history etc? Blue smoke sounds like it's burning excess oil to be honest which is not a good sign - although I would expect the HC to be higher if it was burning oil. Obelix
If you have a new air filter in it then the next step would be to investigate the compression pressure I think.... It's possible that old and manky spark plugs will give you a high CO rating but the reports of smoke are worrysome.
Grandad.Malky
I had a car that failed, I was told to give it a run on the motorway before the next test …….. it passed. I guess it depends on those figures …….. are they “just” over or way over.
