Stinky business on Ecclesall Road.

Was there ever a, I don't know what to call it, a meat rendering plant or offal collecting business on Ecclesall Road?

I remember during the late 70s and early 80s walking into town down Ecclesall quite frequently and a certain point there was always a really nasty fetid and unpleasant smell like rotting meat. It seemed to come from a row of buildings that had boarded up windows..

I can't recall pin point the actual area, though I seem to remem.ber it was not far from the old Pomona.

The smell wasn't the brewery or the potted dog factory both of which had strong and unique smells.
