coolbeans Posted September 5, 2011 Share Posted September 5, 2011 It's time for a wild one, our biggest Cool Beans venture yet, with 2 rooms this time..... ROOM 1 - LIVE ACTS SLAMBOREE ... Introducing the world's very first neo-Balkan rave circus. Slamboree is a brand new live next-level dance music circus band mashing up underground bass-driven beats with live orchestra, guitars, drums, loops, visuals and circus vibes (LED juggling, live hula, burlesque, etc). They stomp through breakbeat, dubstep, drum & bass, dub and electro, whilst throwing in Balkan and gypsy vibes in for good measure. Despite barely only being around for a year, the band has already hit up Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair, Electric Picnic and even headlined Sheffield's very own Peace in the Park Festival. Not to be missed (or tried at home for that matter), the Cool Beans crew travelled to Slamboree’s native Leeds a few weeks back to watch them and they absolutely blew us away! http://www.facebook.com/slamboree SOUND ASSEMBLY This Lancashire three-piece and their unique approach to the electro swing sound has seen them make waves in the hottest new scene to break across the UK for some time. Described as “The sound of 2011” by Mixmag, Sound Assembly bring you a fresh live mix of sultry vintage sounds, a truck load of attitude and a good dose of downright dirty dance-floor beats. Fresh from sell out gigs at London, Leeds and multiple other places, these guys are sure to get you swinging and electro-ing. BELL HAGG ORKESTAR Bell Hagg Orkestar combines the bitter and twisted sounds of Poke with Eastern European troubadors Minnie Moosika. One of the finest and most entertaining live bands in Sheffield, they create a wall of brass, clarinets, drums, bass, strings and voices woven round traditional Eastern European dance music. Plus, any act with band members in double figures is ok by us, a nice big Klezmer knees up! http://www.myspace.com/bellhaggorkestar DJ WAYNE SEALEY Before, in between and after the live acts we have Mr. Wayne Sealey on the decks, a man who has been prominent on the music scene for the last 20 years as a solo act as well as part of the legendary Nightmares On Wax outfit. He's played countless festivals and his work has taken him all over the world. Expect to hear a vast range of styles, including Hip Hop, Break Beat, Electro, Disco, Old School House, Soul, R&B, Funk, Jazz, Ska/Reggae and Latin styles all seamlessly mixed together. ROOM 2 - DISC JOCKEYS ANDY H One of our favourite people in Sheffield, Andy H is co-founder of First Word Records and resident at the biggest mid-week hip-hop and drum n bass night in the UK, The Tuesday Club in Sheffield. A DMC finalist in 2008, Andy is regularly playing to crowds in excess of 1000 every Tuesday night, alongside the very best in the scene, including DJ Craze, Kentaro, Scratch Perverts and DJ Qbert. Specialising in Hip-Hop but just as happy dropping Drum & Bass or anything that gets the crowd jumping. Not just one of the best DJs in Sheffield, but in the whole of the UK, Andy H has prepared a special all out mash-up set for Cool Beans. http://www.djandyh.co.uk SYSTEM:ATTIC Since their formation in a dusty attic in 2010, the lovely James and Alex have rocked houseparties, basements, fields and now some clubs whether it's dirty UK Hip-Hop, dutty Dubstep or filthy Breaks. They're know to dabble in and around genres through their set, fusing Future Garage, D&B, Tech House and even a little bitta Bassline in the mix. Exquisite! DON LIMON Founder of the fabulous Casually Hip and Pets And Fireworks nights, as well as providing many of the tunes for our Correspondents night back in March, Don Limon is a surefire party starter. No longer a Sheffield resident, he's jumping on the train all way from Bristol especially for Cool Beans, that's dedication! COOL BEANS DJS The main reason Cool Beans is here for you people to all enjoy, they especially love getting down and dirty with a crowd eager to hit the dancefloor. Known for playing an enormous range of styles, they'll even provide some visual enjoyment through props and costumes. Expect beats and tunes from Arnivore, Donnellanium, Lonesome Dom and Dreamy Dreamy Rob. Drinks from only £1.95! We are mega pumped for this one, they'll even be a Pacman machine if you need a break from all the excitement.
