DT Ralge
Beware of the possibility of strong undercurrents off the beach at Malia - I was warned about it but it still came as a bit of a shock how difficult it was to get out of the water and back onto the beach. mym8scallmeh
I went about 5 years ago and didnt like it at all, Crete as a Island is beautiful and would love to go back but Malia was pretty grim. It had a lot do with I went on a friends hen week and was quite a mix of ages me being one of the oldest, my night clubbing days are truly over lol , but our hotel was wonderful and the couple that owned were lovely it was just the evenings that were a let down for me, but if you love a lively night life then its just the place to be. Just a word of warning watch out for the beggars in the evenings, 3 or 4 will surround you and next thing your handbag is empty. One girl in our party had her room key stolen and her room was robbed, luckily money and passports were in the room safe but every stitch of her clothing was taken, but I guess this can happen pretty much anywhere these days.
