Blinds for Bay Window

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

We are wanting some blinds for the bay window in our lounge.

Ideally wooden / wooden effect horizontal slats.

We think we could fit them oursleves but just wondered were we could get them from - would we have to get them made-to-measure or would the likes of B&Q and Homebase sell them?

I guess we would need 3 seperate blinds for the 3 different sections of the bay?

Any advice appreciated, thanks!

You will need 3 separate blinds for your bay window - 1 for each section. I've found fitting blinds myself a hassel. I think it's better to pay someone to do it. I recently got some wooden verticle blinds for my bay window and used Harland Blinds. They're a local firm, the quality of their blinds was good and they provided a really good service.

I think you should price up fitting the blinds yourself. They will need to be made to measure and you will be able to get them on the internet, but depending on where you order from you may not be able to check out the quality of them before you buy. Then I think you should perhaps get quotes for having them made and fitted by a couple of specialist companies before you decide what you are going to do for definite.

If you provide some rough idea of your window sizes, I can pm you some ideas of price. Although you may think I am slightly biased (;-)) Maverick is right; bay windows can be tricky and I have found over the years that ready-made products rarely fit will; installing yourself is always an option, but remember that you have to make allowances for the angles of your bay which affects the final widths of the blinds.
