chem1st Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 My mum's a nurse and had to tend to a young lad who'd been knocked off his motorcycle by an elderly driver earlier today, fortunately he's still alive and should only have a few broken bones. The elderly driver had pulled out without looking. I stopped cycling after nearly being killed by old drivers, one of whom looked directly at me before pulling out into my path! Old drivers are a menace, if your an old driver, get your eyesight tested regularly, and remember you can use public transport for free. Give up the car and use your buspass before you kill somebody. lilypiglet Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 ....witnessed an absolute corker of an example of bad elderly drivers last week...little ol' lady in her brand new Lupo, attempting to pull out of Proctor Place onto Middlewood Road, quite obviously in the wrong gear to set off as the engine was absolutely screaming, anyhoo she accelerates out of the junction and t-boned a guy in a Mondeo, she left her car on the tram tracks to offer her details (already in a little black folder...ahem!!) so along comes a tram, and she has to move her car...for some reason she attempts to reverse out of the way and straight into the tram...it just beggared belief... rickiethecat Posted September 14, 2011 Share Posted September 14, 2011 There really should be an upper age limit for driving, maybe people's driving licences should expire on their 70th birthday. Once past that age they don't need a car because they'll have retired and have no job to go to and they get free travel on public transport anyway. They should have different speed limits for different sexes and age groups.Would you be in the group that does 60mph in a 30 limit and can change lanes on a whim and shake your fist at other drivers who can't get at you and tear your head off then!
