Cyclone
Not everyone feels the need to question what they believe in or what they don't believe in. They're pretty stupid then aren't they. How did they come to believe in something at all if they haven't thought about it?
Cyclone
I'm not applying a double standard, I'm saying it's fair enough. It is sufficient for you and I accept it. You didn't, you spent quite a few posts pointing out that pasta can't fly... Did you suddenly become more tolerant, or did you realise that you were exhibiting the behaviour you were also criticising?

Cyclone
You were trying to convince people that it didn't exist. A behaviour you apparently find to be intolerant when it's an atheist exhibiting it.

Cyclone
No what I don't like is people telling me what I should believe in an arrogant/violent way. I have no problems with the difference of opinion. There is a difference between stating your opinion/beliefs and telling everyone who doesn't have the same opinion as you they are wrong and stupid. Which is what intolerant religious people and atheists do. There's no difference at all except in the way that it's expressed. Did you mean "Which is what intolerant religious people and intolerant atheists do."? Or are you trying to say that all atheists are intolerant? Simple example: In the three main monotheist religions killing is a sin. Yet millions of people have died killed by religious people. Example of what? The hypocrisy of religion? Cyclone
Should we respect an adult that still believes in Santa as well? They may have thought long and hard about it, and still be deluded. Simply because you don't think about religion like you think about maths. The best example are two brilliant mathematicians, very very religious: Descartes Pascal This isn't an answer to the question that was asked. Should we respect an adult that still believes in Santa as well?

llamatron
I'm not applying a double standard, I'm saying it's fair enough. It is sufficient for you and I accept it. Its very very clear that you are! You are being just as "intolerant" as every atheist if you state that the spaghetti monster does not exist because pasta can't fly. The spaghetti monster is above obeying the laws of physics, he is omnipotent!
