gina1970
Please help before I go totally daft lol A kid want a top that costs £97, so he borrows £50 from mum and £50 from dad, he buys the shirt and has £3 change, so he give his mum £1 back and his dad £1 back and keeps £1, this means he now owes each of them £49. £49+£49=£98+ the £1 he kept =£99, where is the other £1?????????? PeteMorris
It's a bit like the old one where you declare you have eleven fingers. Hold one hand up.. and drop one finger at a time starting at ten,... nine,... eight, seven, six......then hold the other hand up and say plus another five...that makes eleven! Sleight of words! nikki-red
The debt is now £98, the £1 you kept is included in the £98, theres no reason to add it on. Thats the misleading bit. Shirt £97 + £1 you kept = £98 £1 Mum, £1 dad 98 + 1 + 1 = £
mrm1970
£97 divided by 2 is £48.50 plus a £1 equals £49.50 which totals £99 and leaves him with £1 simple really.
