The name Bovril was partly constructed from the word 'Vril' by its inventor John Lawson Johnston. He took the name from a fictitious (???) superior race of people, the Vril-ya, who derive their powers from an electromagnetic substance named "Vril." This derisory dribble in the virtually empty jar is the sum result of: 1 Onion 2 carrots 1 turnip half a celery stick Half a litre of brewers froth I guess you'd need at least thirty times this amount just for one jar ...
