Barrel Pub,Chapeltown

I went my family last week and had a lovely evening, the new decor is really warm and stylish, they had a good range of assorted drinks and the menu is great with far more choice than others in the area, the staff were friendly and polite (when they had run out of ice, as soon as they'd got more one of the Bar persons brought some over to us in a large glass and apologised.) We actually noted the manager escort a mature lady safely out, due to the heavy rain.

We are hoping to go again at the weekend. :)

We've been this lunchtime and weren't impressed.

The service was slow, without a smile and I think they'd forgotten our order. When the baguettes did arrive they were dry and thrown together.

I think we'll stick to The Acorn and Staindrop in future.

Regards

Have you been to the same Barrel as me?????? We had a great time, nice food, very pleasant staff and waited no longer than in any other pub for our dinners. I notice Kippax went on opening night and hasnt stopped moaning since, DURRRRRRR...opening night????

What did you expect??? It would be great to get your meals in super quick time ANYWHERE, but its not an excuse to moan like hell. If I were serving you, and you moaned like that when I was giving you your dinner, I would have shoved it in your face like a custard pie. My god, these are PEOPLE, not just staff. Give them a break, and quit ya moaning. If you cant, order a takeaway. They deliver.

My visit was Wednesday lunchtime when it wasn't particularly busy.

My wife ordered a Cajun Chicken sandwich and I went for the roast of the day sandwich that happened to be beef.

After waiting about 40 minutes I went to check on progress and was told they were just being plated up....My guess is they'd forgotten.

A couple of minutes later our sandwiches arrived. The chicken was dry and rubbery and my beef sandwich came without the promised pot of gravy, which made it quite dry.

When I read the reviews on here I put it down to teething problems, but based on my experience I won't be rushing back.

On a positive note I did have a very nice Indian in Bakewell last night.

Regards

I didnt expect super quick time.....would have been happy with 50 mins, but 1hr 10?? then it was the wrong order!

I was very polite when I complained......more hacked off that no body has bothered to call from the pub as promised.

Are you wanting a free meal?

I raised your issue on there Facebook page, a response got posted to say he lost your number, why don't you call in the pub and ask to see the Landlord what he is going to do about the 20 minute wait you're not happy with.
