FRIDAY 7TH OCTOBER @ STARS, QUEENS RD, SHEFFIELD

LIQUID STEEL SESSIONS PROUDLY PRESENTS...

WARRIOR QUEEN - LIVE & DIRECT FROM JAMAICA!

This is quite simply the biggest act we have EVER brought to an LSS in any city so it’s with great pride that we bring WARRIOR QUEEN direct from Jamaica to our faithful Sheffield crew!

WARRIOR QUEEN

(JA // NINJA TUNE // TEMPA // HYPERDUB )

Most of us know Warrior Queen aka Annette Henry for her collaborations with Dubstep doyens The Bug and Magnetic Man’s Skream. However, the first lady of industrial Dancehall has long been a recognised toaster in her native Kingston. Warrior Queen exploded into the UK Bass consciousness with the anthemic ‘Poison Dart’ back in 2007 and further cemented her place as a Dubstep lyricist with the politicised message of ‘Insane’.

Her bespoke style lends itself perfectly to the sinister dread bass of The Bug’s music but she has also been known to switch styles into sweeter territory with “Things Change” alongside UK Bashment crew (and LSS favourites) The Heatwave. An artist with releases on respected labels such as Hyperdub and Soul Jazz, Warrior Queen’s most recent outing was with Glasgow’s Mungo’s Hifi last year released on their own Scotch Bonnet imprint.

Warrior Queens versatile and commanding style will sit perfectly with the new venue – check out the support...

THE COLONEL (BCR FM // Reverb Nation)

The third famous colonel after Gadaffi and Sanders (KFC is over the road if you get hungry!) and making his LSS debut. We’ve been meaning to get The Colonel down for some time now. His military precision mixing getting the troops into his groove is much admired and his weekly show on Burngreave Community Radio is a Tuesday night treat! A fierce defender of the Garage genre and all other offshoots of Funky, Hip-Hop and UK Bass, The Colonel knows a banger when he hears one. He’s also not afraid to push top MC talent and has worked with Hoodz Underground’s J.Poet and The Heatwave’s Rubi Dan. Drawing together the more dance floor friendly elements of soundsystem music, expect a set of deep in the groove, jacking, booty-shaking badness!

SEQUOIA SELECTAS

One of Sheffield’s mightiest soundsystems and with plenty of exclusives and dubplates in their arsenal, Sequoia will shake the foundations combining Reggae, Dancehall, Moombaton, Kuduro and Balkan Beats.

RESIDENTS:

SHORTY & AUTOGRAFF

MC SKATZ

We’ve had many places in Sheffield host our parties over the years – from a cafe to underneath an Ethiopian Restaurant! But now we’re moving to the new and improved Stars & Mayfair on Queens Rd. To those of you who have never been or if you remember its 1980s decor – fear not! The Club has undergone an extensive re-fit with plush new seating booths and vibrant yet stylish lighting. We’re expecting this event to be an absolute stonker and most importantly the drinks are not going to cost you the earth!
