max,s downtown isnt mentioned a small club but cosey,i worked on the door at josephines in the 80,s then on to another napoleons casino, the 80,s were the best times

Isn't Max's downtown what eventually became Sinatra's?.... also no one has mentioned the club / late bar on the corner of Furnival Gate and Eyre Street -think it was once called Uriah Heap ? used to give out plates of Chilli to everyone at about 11.30 so that it could stay open till about 1am without having to have a proper club licence ?

OK who remembers Five Ways or as it was re-named - Fanny's- (kid you not) up at Owler Bar? Used to race up there in some poor parents car that we had got hold of.

I remember Five Ways. Used to go up there when the pubs closed at 10:30 in Sheffield.

i used to go to the drop every week :)

me and my mates charging round the place talking to everybody while speeding :)

top nights

also the palais on tuesdays

frog and parrot, the wap, rebels on saturdays

i only went to the roxy rock night a few times, mainly sat up stairs

occasionly the yorkshireman and hallamshire hotel

hallamshire hotel loads for gigs

Palais on a Tuesday night was some of my best times ever. I think it was called "Sindrome"? DJ Dr Death Tone (DDT) and Mutley. There were a couple of sisters that used to go there both brunette, one of them used to wear stripey socks and was gorgeous. then there was Sarah who danced all night and looked like the woman from Silverfish, and who can forget Dave on his crutches and his Ministry T-Shirts. 80p a pint until 11.00pm.

Does anyone have a copy of "Hands up who wants to die" that they used to play there?

Cannot believe it was almost 20 years ago.. it was called Syndrome (I think there was a "y" instead of an "i" - of course!) - there were loads of black & red tix that got you in for free the next week - I might still have one somewhere..

I think virtually *all* the girls had stripey tights and docs or para boots - twas the fashion..

I can recall once chatting to this attractive girl with long blonde hair (I had & still have long hair) and this lad-about-town type came up behind us and said "what are two nice girls like you doing in a place like this?" - the look of his face when we turned round was priceless...

Anyway.. it was a top tues night out.. would love to see some pix from there...
