Forcing your child to leave home? (with help from the law)

An Italian couple have sought legal help to persuade their 41-year-old son to fly the nest, Italian media reported.

The Venetian parents, who have not been named, say their son has a job but refuses to leave home and wants his clothes washed and his meals prepared.

What do you think of this?

Surely he should be washing his own clothes and preparing his meals, and those of his elderly parents?

In the UK children are staying home well into adulthood. We now have children whom have stayed at home so long they have become infertile.

Many can't afford to move out, others are taking their parents for a free ride.

It doesn't bode well for the future.

i think it all depends on how your raised your children.

if you raised young adults they will leave and become independant

if you raised old children they wont.

many people let their kids rule the roost these days. why would those kids want to leave, they have everything they want, on tap, for free.

Yes, the vast majority of idle louts, posing as children should be evicted from home at the age of 16...........or in special cases 14. These hulking brutes [ male and female ], drift round the house, grunting and scratching when they ought to be digging holes in a field or doing rifle drill 12 hours a day.

Their poor parents would then have some respite from the empty fridge, the smelly bedrooms, the loud rap music, the bad manners and general boorishness of their offsprings. They would be able to have a meal in peace, sit back with a drink and a smoke and watch Newsnight instead of BigBrother.

Most of the world 's species kick their young out at a certain age. Our only problem is that American Child ' Experts ' via the media have persuaded or conned most people into thinking that we humans ought to be responsible for our brats for ever ! [ In fact in some societies, young people ARE much more responsible for their old Mums and Dads than in Child-Centred Britain. ]

I think that we need to look at it in the context of time. It is much more difficult for a young adult to leave home now and "go it alone" as they used to. Social housing is virtually a thing of the past as are truly permanent jobs.

We are living through unprecedented times and the signs are that they are going to get worse.
