manofstrad
I think this new tax is a wonderful idea and will sort the wheat from the chaff. Only the people that these expensive goods were originally designed for will be able to keep them.

Many has beens, chavs, in massive debt drive around in massive 4 x 4's and can muster togather the top 460ish a year - but to buy a brand new car and pay the 900- 1000 quid on top means only people like us can afford that. BTW, it may be a bit of a staus symbol re the tv tax/licence on a slidding scale. just like the cars. you will recall the orginal council tax banding and the highest was an E/f banding at the time - some were upset the house was only a D or an e banding lol
Tony
Hi Thanks for that, but we are not your "mate," fact!! Regarding your argument, we agree. however, look at cars, we paid close to 60k for our Range Rove Sport and a roas tax licence for over 900 for the first year and about 460 fror next and it goes up. There the more you pay for a car, usually it has a bigger engine and higher emmisons output, you pay more and this is where the greed b's got the idea from = stuff the hard pressed tax payers is what they say Proof if proof were needed, that money don't buy you class. The were chatting about a "green tax on tv's." and our beleif is it will be in addition to the standard tax for larger tv's and a ruduction for small one in 6/7 years time but the higher tax or green tax may come into play from 2012.
