CXC3000
The Palestinians wanting freedom and human rights; freedom and human rights from the Occupation. How dare they ------------ More people across the globe back UN recognition of Palestine as an independent state than oppose it. A total of 20,466 people in 19 countries were surveyed with 49% backing the proposal while 21% said their government should oppose it. 30% declined giving a definite answer. The interviews, either face-to-face or by telephone, were done between July 3 and August 29, 2011. The poll, jointly conducted by the BBC and GlobeScan, saw majority support in four predominantly Muslim countries, with Chinese people also strongly endorsing the proposal. Even in countries where opposition was strongest, more people polled supported the resolution than were against it, BBC writes Monday. Support was strongest in Egypt, where 90% were in favor and only 9% opposed. Chinese were also among the most enthusiastic supporters, with 56% in favor and just 9% opposed. Public opinion in the three large European Union member states included in the poll was very similar: France (54% support, 20% opposition), Germany (53%, 28%) and the UK (53%, 26%). http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=132209
upinwath
It'll be vetoed by the US so it's all a bit pointless really except it'll show Israel up for what their government is really up to.

mj.scuba
They don't have much of a human rights record within their own territories as it is. Bestowing statehood on them will not instantaneously make it a beacon of human rights.

Jeffrey Shaw
We can easily disregard the poll. It has no bearing on anything at all. Despite impressions to the contrary, Governments are run by politicians and not internet/web-users.
just_words
I loved the pictures of the flag poles... Is this place stable yet, or are they still blood thirsty and vengeful, even between themselves?
mj.scuba
Excellent choice to hand over a letter to the UN to demonstrate their intentions. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/148035
Mecky
The Palestinians wanting freedom and human rights; freedom and human rights from the Occupation. How dare they ------------ More people across the globe back UN recognition of Palestine as an independent state than oppose it. http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=132209 It's rather suspicious how much of the countries that support Palestine are either islamic or at least anti-western isn't it? Of course, muslims could always settle in countries that do not recognise Palistine and try to take them over by stealth. You know the sort of thing, use a country's own policies against itself to get agents, for want of a better expression, into positions of power to try and influence public opinion to accept islamification of the entire world. Mecky
Except all the western countries voted in favour too. NOt sure when germany and france and the uk became anti-western. Germany and France are anti-everyone as history has shown.
