Adverse weather Warning

Recommended Posts

Hi

WEATHER RECORDS FOR LATE SEPT BROKEN, AND OCTOBER SET TO BREAK RECORDS FOR BEING THE HOTTEST!! :)

==============================

Friday was the hottest September 30 for more than 100 years - with records being broken across the country.

In Cambridge, a temperature of 29.2C (84.6F) was recorded mid-afternoon, smashing the previous high of 27.8C (82F) recorded in Maidenhead, Berkshire, on the same day in 1908.

Later, Sutton Bonington in Nottinghamshire also recorded a temperature of 29.2C, equalling the record set in Cambridge.

Aisling Creevey, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "Records have been broken for September 30 in a few places in the UK."

Those jetting off on holidays in search of sunshine may well find temperatures at home are just as good as those abroad. Heathrow Airport can usually expect to see temperatures around 19C (66.2F) in September, and 15C (59F) in October.

Ms Creevey said: "We would expect the temperature for the last day of September to fall somewhere between these figures. But 28C (82.4F) has been recorded there today - 10C (50F) above average."

This compares favourably to Spain, where temperatures of 29C (84.2F) have been felt this week, while in Greece they ranged between 26C (78.8F) and 28C (82.4F).

There is now speculation that Saturday could see the hottest October day ever recorded. The current record, set in March, Cambridgeshire, on October 1, 1985, is 29.4C (85F).

Forecasters expect the weather to remain warm until the beginning of next week, but it could take travellers by surprise, with people hitting the roads in search of sunshine this weekend. Travel information firm Trafficlink said: "The heat is likely to bring anything between 30% and 50% more traffic on to the 'usual summer routes' which would normally be OK at this time of year."

Train companies are also expecting up to 25% more passengers as people rush to visit beaches and beauty spots.

I swam with the lid(remote sliding roof panel) off the pool this morning, no climate control needed it was wonderful.:)

Hi

Word of caution: The sun has been very strong over the last few days and will be for the next few days. Therefore, when one is swimming in the open, rememberer to cover yourself in factor 50 or higher sun cream that is water resistant.

Across the waters, over in the USA/florida/Miami, one of our siisters has a sea front mansion with a swimming pool. Our sister had the pool covered as firends and family that were using the pool, and especially those from england suffered sun burns

Thanks for the warning, that is very considerate of you.:) I feel I must point out that ever since the fairly recent radiation leak in the Far East, I have not fully exposed myself during daylight hours.

Hi

You appear to be one, very intellectual member. Sadly, we have forgotten about the leak you refer to and unwittingly become ignorant of the fact, but thumbs up for the reminder.

We have noted that more and more people, especially parents are taking more care of themselves and kids when very sunny. As exposing ones self to the sun without any decent protection can be painful or worse.

Enjoy the warm weather :)
