Should claimants have to pass random drug tests to receive benefits?

  1. 1. Should claimants have to pass random drug tests to receive benefits?

    • Yes, and if they fail the tests have their benefits stopped until they can provide clear samples.
    • Yes, and if caught their benefits should be reduced by a percentage until they can pass.
    • They should only receive food and domestic service vouchers anyway, not money.
    • No, they should be able to spend other people's money any way they want, even illegally.

Yes it does. You're paying for the habit. The millions of employed have to earn their drug. The drug's not the issue. Who's paying for it is.

You have kids right? Would you rather they learned to earn and respect their drug of choice or just keep irresponsibly feeding something that clearly needs to take a back seat for a while? Being unemployed and all.

when your unemplyed you have more spare time so are probably more likly to take drugs

reduction of benefits? it's not that easy to live off benefits. How bot raising the minimum wage??

I know its not easy living off benefits but also there is no incentive for some to look for work.If there was a system in place where you knew your benefits would be reduced after a 2/3 year period that would be an incentive.

That`s getting off topic though so back to the drugs......

I agree, I have and I know many do. But if known of should the state fund it?

If anything don't you find it hypocritical? These things are illegal and I as a working man could lose my job if caught with them. Yet when I'm unemployed the government will knowingly pay for these drugs. Surely you don't think that right?

just because you're unemployed it doens't mean you shouldn' be able to have any fun. you think you should just sit at home looking for jobs 24/7 eating value beans and feeling bad because someone else is playing for it?

you'd top yourself.

The government also 'knowingly pay' for benefits claimants to smoke cigarettes, download porn, drink booze, pay for sex with prostitutes, eat fatty food and lottery tickets.

You could try to cut the benefits of people who indulge in all of those things and more - or you could just try and be liberal enough to take the view that adults, for the most part, aren't children that need protecting from themselves.

Don't be so dramatic. As I've said, if the government know about it should they fund it?

You didn't get my bit about the government being hypocritical if they do? I suppose they could legalise it and give it more legitimacy?
