It's an excellent idea and I wish we'd adopt it here.

Will shops leave the used boxes for customers to use as an alternative? If there's a box to put my stuff in I'll put it in there. If it helps limit the use then I'm for it but you can't just keep charging the customer. After all less packaging would ultimately mean less bags surely?

Perhaps "reusing" then, the 5p charge makes you think about reusing the bags you have rather than binning them and getting more.
