crookesey
So 3000 skilled jobs to go, this is not the action of a majority tory administration. These jobs will never come back and the UK will become a minor player in the defense industry. David Davies opposes this action, I'm sure that he is not alone, but will the others vent their opposition, or just keep quiet?

robwillow
Was it not inevitable with the defence cuts, even with a war going on? Hope the people concerned can find other work, it's going to be v disruptive for them.

If we are to use weapons, we should at least benefit from the jobs that their manufacture create, would your moral conscious be eased if the were manufactured say in the USA? Well at least we wouldn't be paying over the odds for underspecified and late equipment then and the money saved could be used for helping create other jobs. Most of BAE's employees are in the USA anyway, do you know if they are making redundancies there?

I'd rather our soldiers got effective reliable equipment for a fair price than artificially supporting the british economy.
