0742Sheff
I could kill it, cook it, eat it yes. I would need some help with the preparation as i have never cleaned an animal.
chem1st
I would, but I wouldn't want to do it repetitively in a slaughterhouse, day in day out.
quisquose
No, I don't suppose I would. But if I had to record my own music I wouldn't listen to that, if I had to distill my own petrol I wouldn't drive a car, if I had to grow my own bananas I wouldn't eat bananas ... etc etc
RootsBooster
the thing is, if you had to slaughter it yourself, you would be able to choose the way it met its end. If I was all alone on an island with no supermarkets, but a field full of cattle, then once in a while I think yes I would lead one out to an isolated pasture and let it have it's final meal in peace before putting a shotgun to it's head and turn it into a few weeks/months worth of meat. It wouldn't know what the shotgun is and it wouldn't suffer. If I could actually do this is another matter.
Halibut
Yes, but probably less frequently.

I saw a food programme once where a boar was going to be killed and turned into a years worth of sausages. The farmer would use his rifle to scratch the boar on the head every day whilst feeding it. This way when "the big day" came the boar would feel no anxiety or fear and the kill would be quick and stress free.
ampersand
I've killed, gutted and subsequently eaten rabbits, chickens and other various birds (all of them bred specifically to be killed and eaten) - not much to it when you get used to it - but it's easier with small animals - not sure I'd like to tackle a pig or cow

Yes, I would, if I were a trained Shochet. See http://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/222239/jewish/About-Shechita.htm
