Daniel21
Hi all After some advice if anyone can help. It looks like someone has tried breaking into my mums car by trying to get force open a window (whilst in a car park). The windows is electric and now the button for opening/closing isnt working. We've managed to shut the window for now but it keeps falling back down. Is there something we can do to keep the window shut or does it need replacing? If it does need replacing how much would this cost? FYI, the car is a Vauxhall Meriva, rear passanger window and is tinted. Thanks in advance. UglyBob23
Have you tried the fuse? It could be something as simple as that - have a look in the handbook to help identify which one. Failing that there could be damage to the mechanism. You could take the door trim off and see if anything is bent or out of place. You could get one out of a scrapyard or off ebay and replace it yourself - it can be a bit fiddly but easy enough with a Haynes manual.

Wouldnt the fuse work for all, or at least the back two windows? The rear driver side one works.
UglyBob23
Yeah, its unlikely to be a fuse, but a minute of looking something up in the handbook could save you some money and effort. If you see that there is only one fuse for both windows and the other is working then cross it off your list. It is always best to start with the cheapest/easiest first as you have little to loose - you'd surely be gutted to have replaced the window mechanism only to find it was a 20p fuse! Daniel21
Checked it and its just the one fuse for both rear windows, and the other one works fine. Anyone got any other suggestions?
