quisquose
Anyone know which 2p's are better to suck on to pass a breathalizer test? is it those pre92 ones or the later ones? That's a myth with no scientific basis at all. This is Sheffield Forum with no sensible basis at all.
chem1st
I must say I am most impressed with your knowledge of small change chem1st. Is there a particular reason for your expertise? Currency is an interesting subect. I'd quite like to launch my own currency, perhaps even money in the future. Pound Sterling, is not worth the paper it's written on. LDeville
Hi it is an offence to melt coins that are not gold or silver, fact! If you break the law you could get a suspended sentenc and a ban from handling coins.

chem1st
What would you use as currency and how would you determine its value? You could use a paper currency backed by a commodity like coal, rather than a 'promise to pay'. Or perhaps even one backed by labour. You could use metal. The value would be determined by the people using it.

simonj
With the drop in the value of currency and the rise in value of scrap metal, how long will it be before we get more for our coppers from the scrap dealer than we do in goods over the counter? Now there's a coincidence. Simon Mayo's Radio 2 Drivetime 'homework' question on yesterdays programme was remarkably similar Thought you'd be more of a Radio 4 kind of person
