upinwath
A simple poll with a simple choice. You decide. I would only vote Tory if there was a Tory on the ballot. If there wasn't, I'd use the paper as bog roll.

I1L2T3
Led up the garden path? Hardly. Capitalism (if that's what you need to call a free market democracy) works. Socialism is an impossible myth, numerous disastrous national failures show that - democratic capitalism is the only long-term successful model of governance in human history. What makes you think that expanding socialism to global disaster will make it work? With all due respect you're getting yourself a bit confused. We don't have free markets. Every market has an element of state intervention. And always will have. Neither have we ever had a truly socialist government. We have a mixed economy with elements of both public & private ownership. And I think you'll find that in human history there are enough examples of long-term successful governance that are not democratic capitalism. Finally if you really believe we currently have a successful model that is working then you're in complete denial. The current economic system in the west is collapsing day by day. It has failed. Utterly.
Big time
In what way is sweeping the roads any less important than operating on a body? Both need doing, and need doing well. Are you for real?? without being disrespectful to roadsweeper's - any chump could do it. A man with the intellect to be a surgeon could not sweep roads Yes he could. he would become depressed and be an encumbramce. Not necessarily. A man whose only ambition is to be a road sweeper can be encouraged to be better. But dont forget, clean roads are vital to an effiecient healthy society. Both those points are true. We need road sweepers, as much as we need surgeons. Which, in real terms is more important? We do not need roadsweepers as much as surgeons, if push came to shove, if things got so bad, all the good people would clean their own streets, as we saw after the recent riots. If we do away with facile things such as possessions to show status, and replace them with kudos and pride in ones position to show status, then we may begin our next step along the road of evolution. Why would someone bother with all the hardwork needed to become a surgeon or something like that if you could be a roadsweeper and have the same money and living standards? Balpin
Why would someone bother with all the hardwork needed to become a surgeon or something like that if you could be a roadsweeper and have the same money and living standards? In your own career what made you want to move onward and upward? If it was only money, then you are indeed a modern person. It is that motivation that has us in the place we are today. Useless incompetents running the show, who are not fit to lick a decent mans shoes. I have always been fired by the thirst for knowlege and experience of all things. I place learning and experience above all things. In the words of a prophet, 'What shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul' What we need in the world today are not self seeking men, but men whose aim is the betterment of humanity.
