What would Mr Cameron have done differently?

Recommended Posts

Seems to be a consensus that the Nasty Party would have done the same as Labour. Doesn't this show that the 'the mess Labour left us in' brigade are talking nonsense as the Nasties would have done just the same. As has been pointed out Brown had little or no choice but to bail out the banks.

Whilst there is consensus that there was little any party could have don't once the problem existed, there is disagreement about whether other parties would have got us into such serious problems in the first place. So it doesn't prove your assertion that the 'the mess Labour left us in' brigade are talking nonsense.

This global recession, for that's what it is, was caused by the banking industry as we all know and was brought about by dodgy lending which was instigated by the deregulation of the banking industry in 1980 under the Thatcher government.

But of course if all this deregulation, dodgy lending ect ect was so bad, why didn't Labour do something about it in the 10 years running up to the banking crisis. Labour are just as guilty for letting the bankers more or less carry on pleasing themselves.

If they would have done the same as labour that would imply they are no different to Labour, if they are no different to Labour why do you hate them so much? whist liking another group of people that are the same and do and act the same.

You are all barking up the wrong tree.

Blame cannot be apportioned here.

The system has collapased, and is dramatically falling.

Capitalism is done, and over with.

It has stood us in good stead for centuries, but the rot is too deep now.

The lucky ones among us will survive on the roach end, but for the long term that is it.

..........and if they had attempted to intervene and regulate, they would then have been accused of ....."Labour, nanny state...etc".... "....Labour, always trying to interfere with business and regulate unnecessarily".... and so on.

So the problem was global banking crisis but it was down to Thatcher for deregulating British banks. When did she have the power to deregulate the world’s banks, and it is my understanding that Brown deregulated them even further. If anyone is truly to blame it is the individuals that acted like sheep and bowered well over their means to climb on the magic money making machine that was the housing market. The problem was a global housing bubble that each country failed to stop and in some cases actually encouraged. The UK encouraged the bubble by taking house price inflation out of the inflation figures thereby giving the impression we had low inflation.

The tory Boy boys had 17 years to do something about it but didn't.

I think that the bottom line here is.... most countries in the world are up to their eyeballs in debt. Someone, somewhere is making a killing.

People borrowed money to start businesses and make more money (Greed). The tiger economies of the Far East, particularly China, undercut everyone and corner the market with cheap nasty goods ... end of. Could it be that simple?
