Its official, we're a christian country

Just to point out (To be Frank even)

Jesus was a lover of humanity, and many say, the first socialist.

The Romans were fascists, the very word originating from the bundle of reeds carried by the admin men of their day.

You seem to be arsehole upards as we say in Sheffield.

That's funny...:hihi:

Upwards I think...:)

Joking aside, the change from 3.0% to 4.4% in 10 years is quite extraordinary against a background of falling religiosity.

I actually suspect it will be the majority practiced religion in the UK within 2 generations.

I don't think so. The next generation of Muslims will not be as religious as their parents. I reckon Muslims are beginning to realise that there's more to life than believing in a man who lives in the clouds...I've know many young Muslims who drink, smoke and philander, once their parents and the older generation have gone, it will all begin to fall apart....:suspect:

But still, if those figures are anything to go by, a tiny proportion of the population, as atheism takes over from christianity. Also, it has been said that muslims who live over here are becoming less religious generally.

Which makes the rise even more impressive, or from my secular perpective depressing.

1.6% 20 years ago -> 3.0% in 2001 -> 4.4% in 2011

Yes, my Malaysian friend said the exact same to me at university 25 years ago.

See my previous post to see what actually happened.

I reckon the increases are due to more immigration. Its still the older generation behind it though. Young people, teens and 20 somethings, the next generation will not be as religious. They'll become more westernised IMO.

The Office of National Statistics reports that 70% of the population thinks they're Christian. That kind of blows out of the water the BBC and their daft ban on BC and AD.

There's also far less gays in the village than some would report as well. Only 1.3% of men reported they were gay. Stonewall have claimed 27%. There's nothing wrong with being gay but we need honesty. They inflate the figures to justify their existence and to ensure the equal opportunities maniac inflict their daft ideologies on us all.

When will the left wake up and stop all the misinformation.

What's next the revelation that the indigenous English are white? :hihi:

Hold the front page! Daily Mail gets poll results which fit exactly with the prejudices of its' target readers. That's really, really AMAZING Frank!

Whoever said "lies, lies and damned statistics" was probably a gay in denial at the essential white christian nature of the British people. I've nothing against foreigners, but they don't keep their lawns short like we do!

Another thing people don't realise about Daily Mail readers is, that apart from being right, they really are loads of fun. They know what life is all about! I'm sure there are some statistics somewhere to back it up!

It is really seeming as if Frank Herbert in his book 'Dune' was correct.

Islam and Christianity melding into one religion, the best of each being foremost.

It is obvious that some middle ground must be met, as we cannot carry on as we are.

We have evolved from the Dark Ages surely.

Yes, and I've already conceded auto98uk's point on this. But the fact that many young Muslims are becoming ex-Muslims (and I know quite a few) does not mean that the % of the population that are Muslim does not continue to increase quite steeply in the near future just as it has in the recent past.

Whether this is due to immigration, birth rates, converts, a mis-reading of the secularisation of young Muslims, or all of these, is a moot point. The fact remains that the Muslim population is rising dramatically, the non-religious population is rising dramatically, and the Christian population is falling quite dramatically.

Richard Littlejohn is trying to paint a rosy picture from a Christian perspective, on something that Rowan Williams knows is a depressing demographic.
