i remember the old showboat skinhead crew, they were older than I...but used to frequent the place and go to the minerva cafe/chippy

Yes Iseem to remember they were the main skinhead group at that tme. half mast trousers and big boots. When and why did they change?

i seem to remember your main bar was a place called Scamps, above the Ice Rink.

Jethro Tull were more my kind of music at that time

In 1970 Slade released an album called “play it loud”. They were already growing the hair then. I guess they were just moving with the times.
