Cargo: The Halloween Special presents...

BLM & Jay Massive [Fear Of Flying Recordings] ...extended 4 hour b2b set

+

Drumro[ll] DJ's

Halloween seems to fall in and out of favour during your lifetime. First you’re a toddler and too young to understand - and too scared of the costumes! Then you’re an ankle biter and it’s the most amazing invention since Christmas. Then, aged 11, and taking your little brother trick or treating is your idea of hell. And finally you’re old enough to go out and party... and things get interesting all over again!

Now it’s been a couple of years since us Cargo boys have thrown a Halloween hoe down. And those of you that attended will remember it was a simple affair; about 100 or so people, a small sweaty bar with a fat sound system, team Cargo doing what we do best and my word did it go off!

So fast forward to Halloween 2011 and things are still very simple; House, Techno, Dark Rooms, Smiling Faces, Silly Costumes. But we are bringing it up a notch. 2011 sees us span 3 venues [we have a pre bar, main event and after party] and a dozen DJs over as many hours!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Ghostbusters and Draculas... we present to you;

Cargo’s Halloween Special with FEAR OR FLYING [bLM & Jay Massive b2b] + Drumro[ll]

This is a two room party with lots going on, so let’s break that down for you...

THE HOUSE ROOM

Hot on the lips and hips of any house orientated dance floor the past year or so, Fear Of Flying is a label that typifies the house resurrection that the World is currently bearing witness to. Groove laden, with textures and layers akin to the minimal sounds that Cargo emanated from, its an infectious sound that cannot be ignored. Not only have we secured a label showcase from the London based imprint, but we’re bringing in the two boys that started the Fear Of Flying ball rolling... BLM and Jay Massive.

With releases on the label from the likes of Chris Lattner, Matthew Styles, Kevin Griffiths and Cargo regular Alex Arnout it’s clear to see why this label is doing the business of late. Not to mention the red hot productions that the boys have been churning out themselves with labels such as Underground Quality, Freak n Chic and Tsuba signing up tracks from the pair in addition to their steadfast work on FoF. If you didn’t know about these boys before, get ready to be made aware.

Ben and Jay have asked us personally if they can play an extended back to back set - and who are we to deny them? Big things afoot.

Support comes in the form of GrowMore [checked out their Starlings remix yet? Do it!] and self styled future King of Sheffield Mr Dan J.

THE TECHNO ROOM

Also hot (but in this case hot off of curating one of the finest techno events The Steel City has ever seen) the Drumro[ll] boys are joining our ever present Cargo grand master Kassien for some well over due techno business in the 2nd room.

Cargo has never swayed too far from its techno roots (albeit minimal ones) and we haven’t put on a dedicated techno room in way too long... so this time around we have James Kassien bringing together an all star cast in the upstairs den of The Earl... expect minimal, deep and tougher techno riddims from the Cargo big cheese as well as the Drumro[ll] young 'uns who canne wait to make their Cargo debut. Wowzers!

THE EARL

All we can say about The Earl is that it’s a hidden gem of Sheffield. OK so we can say a little more... an alternative pub that frequently hosts events spanning rock music and reggae sound systems. Oh and of course it was home to the first ever event that we did with Urban Gorilla a couple of years back. So the place certainly has some history for us... It’s a big old Victorian boozer with a downstairs ‘main’ room, an outside area for smoking and civilised chatting, plus the upstairs loft for loud techno and uncivilised shape throwing. It’s Cargo down to a tee.

PRE BAR

PHONO, the brain child of some of Sheffield’s most loved house music aficionados; Dan J, Alex Cooke and GrowMore, will be warming things up for this very special party. Get down to The West End where the deepest cuts of house, funk, soul and anything else that takes their fancy will be decadently sliced, chopped, blended and layered for your listening pleasure. What better way to get the party started? Oh and this is FREE ENTRY.

AFTER PARTY

We have secured a super special after hour’s shindig for anyone that cannot bear the thought of going home... We’ll be starting this at 4am. Sleep when you’re un-dead! This’ll probably be £2 ont do’er for anyone with a Cargo stamp. No stamp and it might cost a bit more... Serves you reyt!

FANCY DRESS

Of course we at Cargo love a good old dress up. However, dress of the fancy variety is optional (yet whole heartedly encouraged!) so come as you wish.

Right, for GUARANTEED ENTRY into the afterparty with Miguel Campbell (Hot Creations) you need to get a ticket off us at the main event down at the Earl. Otherwise it's gonna cost you more and you're not certain to get in. We're expecting it to be roadblock..and that's not just promoter hype. Hottest name in house music helping reopen a legendary Sheffield nightclub - it's gonna be rammed.
