cellar
Just walking up my road when a car driven by a man speaking poor italian stops and tells me he has been to a convention in the middle of town and his boss has given him a bonus gift. He did not want to return to Italy with it so he wanted to Give it away the rest is garbage but i said no and and he drove away Be aware that this happened to me in Bradford and Manchester (must be the look on my face) but what comes after accepting can be costly
40summat
Why would he speak to you in Italian?

quisquose
One of the oldest scams known. I have had three "Italians" try this with me*, each time at motorway services. An ordinary street is quite unusual though. I'd get his autograph. * Always just been to a fashion show/convention and didn't want to take stock home, so "willing" to let me have the Gucci/Armani/Whatever for next-to-nothing. Badlittlepup
Is this a riddle? Did it actually happen? So what's the scam then?
upinwath
This scam has been running for years. It always used to be leather jackets at daft prices but there's always room for them to change scams. They were fine at about 20% of asking price. Cyclone
How does the price matter if he wanted to "Give it away" as the OP said.
cellar
If he tries it with you it becomes very difficult to lose him until money changes hands
