chem1st
The Conservatives like to describe themselves as the 'low tax party'. Figures out this week will reveal they really are the party of low tax! Over 1 million of the youth (16-25) now need not pay any income tax whatsoever. http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/oct/08/youth-unemployment-figures-one-million More than a million young people are now unemployed, the highest number since the Conservatives were last in power, government figures to be published this week are expected to reveal. Many more people are relying on food parcels, no longer having money with which to pay VAT. Petrol sales are 15% lower than this time last year. That's a lot less tax too. wednesday1
Not only that, but they are planning to lower it for their rich buddies too by dropping the 50p tax rate.

So the 40% income tax payers on less pay, will pay 12% NI, whilst the higher earners will also pay 40% on income, but only 2% NI.
Mr Bojangles
Isn't it funny how people who don't pay much tax want hard working successful people to pay lots of it. Funny old thing that.

Isn't it funnier still that those who can most afford to pay, make all sorts of arrangements to get around their obligations to the society that provides them with their wealth in the first place. You do realise that people who get low pay (and don't pay a large amount of tax) work hard too. They usually aren't getting low pay because they're slacking. If they were pioneering or truly driven, they'd achieve more.
I1L2T3
They make their own wealth They make their wealth within a modern economy with an infrastructure and legal framework that facilitates it. Let them try and do it in Mozambique or some other place where there isn't a sufficient taxation base, infrastructure, legal framework or consumer demand to make that possible.
