adelrose
we guide our pets to their own space to dry off etc, not run all over the place all sludged up. Fibutton
Not at all, I just invite them to avoid the cat's paw prints at this time of year!
Fareast
Whenever I do get any guests I ask them to remove everything. Needless to say, these days I don 't get many visitors but when the odd one does drop in, at least it 's always interesting.
max
We have door mats upon which our guests can wipe their shoes so why would I then ask them to remove them?

I remember being told many years ago, "You can have a nice clean tidy house, or you can have a dog. Choose."
Joanl
We have a neighbour that keeps a box of those paper overshoe things and always gives them out to visiting workmen......I just have a mat outside the door.....
Nataliie
I never step more than a foot into someones house without removing my shoes, even if they tell me to leave them on! Surely if they see a few pairs of shoes or a mat they would just remove them?
bobsdadsbro
Do you ask guests to remove footwear as they enter your home? If so , how do you go about this? Ask them Politely? A notice on the wall or door? What do you do if this is request is ignored? This weather, i seem to be forever cleaning muddy foot prints from my home light coloured carpets and wondered if you think its wrong to make such a request? i always remove my shoes wherever i go and expect the same.good carpets are not cheap
