Conrod
As a humans we are 'one and the same', yet within the human species there is great diversity. What's complicated about that?If we're all the same, there'd be no diversity. But there is

Big time
The diversity which most people talk about, is cultural rather than genetic. John X Oh I see, its culture that makes some black and others white. You are silly.
John X
This is fuel and ammunition to the far right. Precisely, so why are the far-right on their arse? That is the point of this discussion. John X

Big time
No, it's melanin, silly. Some have more, some less. Yeah, its all the DNA, or genetics if you will; blacks and whites and Asian etc are GENETICALLY different to one another, so can we stop it with all the "we're all the same" garbage, when its patently not true to anyone with eye sight. Mr Bojangles
The diversity which most people talk about, is cultural rather than genetic. John X Ah, it's cultural - so if I develop a cultural liking for seal blubber, will I turn into an eskimo? Or have the eskimos evolved into what they are through exposure to different environments to, say pigmies? If a pigmy couple have a child but don't introduce it to any culture, will it grow up into some sort of homogenious 1.7m high average human? No, it won't. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that there are significant differences between the different races. White people can produce high levels of enzymes to metabolise alcohol, orientals are a little better at maths, black people have lower body muscle distribution which makes them great sprinters. All things which have resulted from many generations of natural selection in quite different environments, which have iteratively adjusted our DNA. If two aboriginals have a baby, it won't be a Scandinavian blonde - you need a couple with different DNA for that. Why some people get so defensive about this, and display such profound denial, is beyond me. We're different, and that's a great thing because it means there's variety, so people have different strengths and qualities to bring to the globalised world - why attempt to deny it? Nobody is trying to deny it. The far-right uses the argument that black and white are so far apart genetically that biologically we have to live separate existences in order to thrive. You may not like it, but black, white (and any other colour you care to choose) share 99.9% of their DNA. Any genetic variation in the species is contained in the 0.1% left. So saying "can we stop it with all the "we're all the same" garbage, when its patently not true to anyone with eye sight." doesn't hold water as you are only looking at that 0.1%. Genetically we are basically "all the same". John X
