Chris_Sleeps
When I played we had a 32-1 defeat, and by a team younger than us. My Mum told me, "It's not the winning, it's the taking part", but we didn't even do that. I like the irony of The Sun complaining that the truth isn't being published though. Scozzie
Its just been on BBC news, Yes it’s time to stop pussyfooting round kids, I hated to lose at school and second place was losing which drove me to work harder because I wanted to win. Exactly right. My (netball) team LOVED winning, and if we ever got beaten, you can bet your bottom dollar, we'd all be there early for pactice, stay late, work hard....and win the next time we played that team. Thinking about the girls I've played netball with - some of the most competitive ones were the same at school and also now in the workplace. They are doing well for themselves. I'm not sure if they had the drive, so were good at sports, or if they got the drive from wanting to win and being the best? Either way - kids shouldn't be molly coddled. They need to learn the highs and lows of failure and success.
