poppet2
Contact your local scrap yard and enquire as to how much wrought iron is per kilo. If others' are collecting scrap all day it may be worth your while cutting out the middle man. It's worth a phone call.

Bunderson
I know that new, cast iron fires are very expensive. With the price of metal on the rise, it may be worth a decent amount as scrap too.

jimmy62alan
I used to charge about £15 plus for the cast iron fires being shot blasted and I worked for a company that used to convert them to gas, if anyone is thinking of converting their cast iron fire to gas don't use those fake coals try and find some larva rock and that will retain the heat and gives out a better warmth to the room.
