Gambling what a waste of money

Recommended Posts

Why do people put money in gambling machines in pubs and places like arcades and things they never win don't they know the odds are stacked against them, I would not put a penny in one of them machines, I was sat having a pint in the club the other day and there was a guy stood there pumping money in to the bandit all night he must have put a couple of hundred quid in it what a mug, what is it with horse racing and things like that,no one ever wins in the end apart from the bookie, the only thing I would ever bet on would be a dead cert, and they say there is no such thing, what a waste of money.

Some people actually do win in the long term; it's only the general public at large which is certain to lose.

In any event, I choose to spend a tenner a week backing horses instead of using it to drink beer as many others would; I don't enjoy drinking beer but I enjoy backing horses and watching them race. Why am I 'wasting' my money any more than the beer drinkers are?

What riles me is when you pass the bookies on Giro day and you see the place is packed. Betting shops prey on low income earners, its no surprise they are more common in areas where people are likely to be on the dole or earn minimum wage.

People should have the choice, but those who live on state handouts should not be allowed to bet in my opinion.

We should issue them with food and clothes tokens and control what they spend OUR money on!:)

I wouldn't go so far, but maybe they should not get the money paid into their bank account but be given a prepaid debit card or something. The card could then be set not to work in places like betting shops etc. You could even have it so certain items you cannot purchase, such as luxury goods. One other bonus would be the government would know what this money is being used for and could easily see how the amount spent is being used to pay for specific items.

If the cost of food has risen over 30% in one year, the amount people receive could mirror this rise.

Gambling,smoking,drinking,golfing,football,designer clothes,big macs,sky tv,drugs,cars,bingoNight clubs,taxis,etc.all a waste of time and money......if it's something that you don't like.

Live and let live, and if you think that bookies and casinos make their money from benefit claimants ,get real.
