Cyclone
Kelham Island, ponds forge (although not very scenic), possibly Kenwood Hall? Alternatively, my favourite, if you can find a field, google "airspace structures sheffield", and hire one of their structures out - they look amazing, and will be under £5k. Marriages in England have to be done in registered locations.
Rjh147
Kenwood Hall is big but I doubt they could accomodate for 400. Is it 400 for ceremony, reception and meal or just reception. If its reception only then just look for somewhere with big gardens, maybe tankersley manor.
BizzyBeading
Thank you all for the replies! I know, 400 is a silly amount, but I'm Asian, guess that explains why the high number There is a East meets West Wedding Fayre on the 11 March at the Sheffield United Football Ground, you maybe able to find a venue there. Moosey
Marriages in England have to be done in registered locations. I thought we were looking for reception venues? Also, does that apply equally to Asian weddings? I may google that I think!
Cyclone
Can't remember, it's an old thread isn't it? I was just basing it on the title of large venue for a wedding, not wedding reception.

Interesting - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8493660.stm Seems that they could have the asian part of the ceremony (this is an article re muslim weddings, could well be different for Sikh and Hindu) wherever, but need the civil part in a registered venue for it to be a legal UK wedding. Cyclone
Same as any religion or type of ceremony you like. You can be married by yoda in a jedi ceremony using jetpacks to hover in the air if you like, but to be legal the civil service portion must take place in a registered building, otherwise you're not legally married in the eyes of the UK.
