Amsterdamned Posted October 14, 2011 Share Posted October 14, 2011 On Friday November 25th, Or8 Our Kids III takes place at The Greystones, Sheffield. Following on from the success of past events in 2006 and 2008, the charity fundraising night will once again feature a collection of musicians brought together by a mutual appreciation of the work of Richard Hawley. Born from an idea on Richard’s website forum, previous gigs have featured an eclectic line up of live music, including some covers ...of Richard’s songs, and Or8 Our Kids III will be no different. There will be return performances from The Lonesome & Penniless Cowboys, Dave Woodcock & The Dead Comedians, M&J Blues, Dave Sleney, plus Or8 debuts for Joe Armitage and Roaming Son (appearing jointly with M&J Blues). You can expect a few one off collaborations between acts especially for the night too. The first Or8 Our Kids included a guest appearance from Richard himself, with ‘Uncle’ Frank White also taking to the stage with him at Or8 Our Kids 2. Music aplenty to please fans of old time country, Western swing, blues, ballads, rock ‘n’ roll and pop is in store. The evening will as previously be in aid of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, with half of the proceeds this time also going to Yorkshire Cancer Research, two very worthy causes. On the night itself a raffle will be held with numerous great prizes including Hawley merchandise, CDs, gig tickets, musical memorabilia and even a free curry. A limited edition of the gig poster, signed by Richard, will be on sale and available strictly on a first come first served basis. Cake and buns are set to be sold too with all proceeds going into the pot. Doors open at 7.45pm for an 8pm start.
