LeMaquis
One risks an amount of money for the chance to win more. Gambling is gambling. Sorry but I disagree. Sometimes you can "donate" regular money to an organisation you support and as a result your name goes in a draw for a cash prize. Or you might buy a raffle ticket for a charity. They're both examples of risking money for the chance of getting more but there's an additional aspect of giving to a good cause if you lose. You can't compare bookies and charities. Bonzo77
It is. So are we going to stop 16 year olds buying raffle tickets? I can remember buying them at school when I was about 6years old. I wouldn't put buying a lottery ticket and puttinga bet on at the bookmakers in the same category.
Chris_Sleeps
You can't compare bookies and charities. I'm not. I'm saying gambling is gambling. The morality of a casino and a country fate are vastly different, but if the law says one can only gamble at 18 then so be it.
Chris_Sleeps
So are we going to stop 16 year olds buying raffle tickets? Me and you? I hope not, I've got better ways to spend my time.

Chris_Sleeps
Do you see everything as either black or white, Chris, are there no grey areas? I'm arguing for pleasure, I don't really want to spend my time stopping raffle tickets. Still, my point stands. Raffle tickets are gambling. chem1st
Sounds like another Chem1st thread to start another housing rant. I'd rather this one stayed about gambling to be honest.
