Gilad Shalit back home in Israel

Recommended Posts

The young chap who had been kidnapped was just some scrawny kid doing his military service. I suggest that if you are going to call him a terrorist you list what acts of terrorism you believe he committed.

He is part of an organisation that represents terror. Is that good enough for you ?

The terrorists that are being released have been convicted...

Really ? - I find that very hard to believe. Just take a look at what Amnesty has said re. Palestinians held without charge :

Israel still did not conduct adequate investigations into alleged war crimes and other serious violations of international law by its forces during Operation “Cast Lead”, the 22-day offensive in Gaza in December 2008/January 2009, during which nearly 1,400 Palestinians, including more than 300 children, were killed.

Israeli soldiers and settlers who committed serious abuses against Palestinians, including unlawful killings, assaults and attacks against property, were generally not held to account for their crimes. Israeli military forces killed 33 Palestinian civilians in the OPT, including eight children.

Hundreds of Palestinians were arrested and detained by Israeli forces; at least 264 were held without charge or trial under administrative detention orders, some had been held for over two years. Reports of torture and other ill-treatment were frequent, but investigations were rare. Around 6,000 Palestinians remained in Israeli prisons, many after unfair military trials. Israeli conscientious objectors to military service continued to be imprisoned.

From Human Rights Watch :

As of September 2010 Israel held 189 Palestinians in administrative detention without charge.

(bear in mind the above is from last year; the figure has more than likely increased since)

Why do you persist with this rubbish? Nobody is going to change their mind and nobody likes you.

That's not a very healthy attitude then is it? Whatever you think of CX they did link factual information.

It doesn't help by keeping a closed mind- sometimes you need to look at the other side or you will remain cynical all your life.

I think the quote by Shalit sums it up for me:

In an interview with Egyptian television at Rafah, Shalit said that he hoped that the deal that allowed for his release would help Israelis and Palestinians achieve peace
.

"I will be very happy if all Palestinian prisoners are freed so they can go back to their families [...] I hope this deal could help reach peace between Israelis and the Palestinians and strengthen cooperation," he said.

Arms dealers will be jumping with glee at the thought of this. I wonder what Mr Fox and Mr Werritty are up to tonight?

No it bloody well isn't.

The islamist animals who kidnapped him would regard you as a legitmate kidnap victim for living in our country, paying taxes which in their view "fund attacks against islam".

Would you like to be kidnapped by mediavalist cretins for "crimes" you never committed? If not then I suggest you show a little more compassion for this young man who has been through hell.

Indeed, and hopefully the IDF have enough arms to do a good job of maintaing the peace.
